Anna Starkey

One of Anna‘s favourite places is the St Endellion Music Festival in Cornwall (where Anna and Lucy first met many years ago!) Anna enjoyed the variety of orchestral and chamber music performances there and in her final year joined members of the Endellion Quartet for the UK premiere of Brett Dean’s Epitaph No.5 for String Quintet. Her interest in contemporary music continued while in New York as a member of the Sonos chamber orchestra, a highlight being the performance of the New York premiere of Tan Dun’s Ghost Opera for string quartet and pipa.

After reading music at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, Anna continued her studies at the Royal College of Music with Itzhak Rashkovsky and chamber music with the Chilingirian Quartet. It was at this time that she began her teaching career, teaching the violin at Hill House Preparatory School and setting up her own private practice. Anna has since taught at Surbiton High School for Girls and Bute House before moving to the south coast where she enjoys sailing in her spare time.

Anna is delighted to be back for Chamber Players 2023!
